First Friday September 2010

I really love First Fridays. When we design a new bag it takes about 1 year until it's released to you. It's like waiting for someone to open a present that you've spent all year making. We're so excited for all the new bags this month. We brought back the black and white polka dot print, an all-new diaper bag and by popular demand the medium Scully Rope Tote.
The black and white polka dot has always been one of my faves. This time around we've added bows and rosettes.

The all-new diaper bag is available in Black, Red and Treecycle and it even comes straps to attach to your stroller. If you buy it now you'll get a free Harveys Teddy Bear (while supplies last).

And last but not least the Medium Scully Rope Tote.

Ahoy there Mateys

Thanks to everyone that sent in their Pirate names. We had over 800 submissions with some very fun names. Some sounded very scary and some not so scary. I hope you had as much fun as we did.

We randomly selected a winner and that winner of the medium Scully Boat Tote is...

Jo Ann East and her pirate is Olive Dog Ann

congratulations Jo Ann.

HARRRRRRVEYS!!!

Summer is almost over so last night we decided to take the girls to Disneyland, once more before school starts. Dana snapped this picture of Me with my Medium Scully Boat Tote, in front of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
When we first released the Scully Boat Tote in spring 2010 it was only available in the Large size. We had tons of requests to offer it in the Medium size so this coming First Friday Sept 3rd we're pleased to announce that the Scully Boat Tote will now be available in the Medium size.
I'm giving away this "first sample" Medium Scully boat tote. To be eligible to win, all you have to do is email us your pirate name to: contest@seatbeltbags.com.

To find out your pirate name we came up with this clever PIRATE NAME CALCULATOR:
Just take your favorite Harveys Bag color, your favorite animal and your middle name.

My pirate name is: Red Dog Annie

We'll randomly select a winner this First Friday Sept 3rd so hurry and email us your pirate name today.

*One submission per person, please

Orange County Fair

Every summer we look forward to the Orange County Fair. There's so much to do and see. We love to visit the gardens and see the farm animals. Then it's off for some greasy Fair Food and maybe even catch a concert.
This year was extra special for us.
The girls got to perform on stage with their dance group as beautiful butterflies
And Melanie not only won 1st place for her homemade beef jerky but then went head to head with all the other 1st place winners and won the entire division! When She's not designing new bags Melanie is usually working on her other passion, Cooking.

Come on Barbie, Let's go Party

I'm a Barbie girl In my Barbie World... Yes, it's true: HARVEYS is teaming up with Barbie on a collection of Barbie Seatbeltbags.
We've been working with the gals at Mattel for the past 6 months and have loved every minute of it.
We got to visit their Headquarters in Los Angeles (where the magic happens) and saw a step-by-step demonstration on how each doll is designed and built. We even got to meet my Barbie idol, Robert Best. I've been obsessed with Barbie since I could walk and talk so working with Barbie has been a dream come true.
Our Barbie Bags are due to release First Friday, February 2011. We're still in design mode so I can't reveal the bags just yet but I can tell you that we were most inspired by the original 1959 Barbie Doll.
Xoxo- Melanie Harvey

First Friday

Our latest print, "Rosa" was inspired by the Flamenco Dancers of Spain. The photos were shot on location at the Santa Ana train station which was the perfect back drop with it's grand Spanish architecture.
We also introduced one of my favorite colors, Sangria
...and the long awaited, much requested Red Lola

Summer Luvin

One of my all-time favorite movies is Grease. I was watching it for the 1000th time the other day.
One of the first songs in the movie is "Summer Nights" which was the inspiration for the Summer Luvin collection back in 2007 when released an array of summer brights in the small tote silhouette. We chose the small tote because back in the 50's the smaller sizes were all the rage and the bright colors were inspired by all of the vibrant colors the girls wore. Here's the song that inspired the summer Luvin Collection back in the summer of 2007.
